The One is Sabah Kenway’s debut EP , mixed, mastered and produced by London based rapper and producer SFROMWEST.
This project is a formal introduction to Sabah Kenway as an artist, showcasing her nostalgic yet fresh sound, representing what she has to offer to her listeners as well as to the music industry as a whole.
The six track EP features three singles that are currently released - The One, Feelin’ Me and most recently, End of The Line - alongside three additional unreleased tracks - Delusional, Fool for Loving You (feat. SFROMWEST) and Never Knew.
The project as a whole has a clear mid- late 90’s and early 2000’s R&B influence with tracks such as The One and Delusional taking inspiration from the likes of Destiny’s Child and TLC, whilst Feelin’ Me with its Arabic/Middle-eastern inspired production is reminiscent of Aaliyah, while in turn, favouring Sabah’s North African roots and can also be heard on End of The Line which features an Arabic verse on the second half of the track.
Fool for Loving You is a reworked, re-imagination of Sabah’s debut single back in July of 2019, this time featuring rapper SFROMWEST. With it’s jazzy and soulful nuances the song is given new life and allows listeners a refreshing breather from the EP’s otherwise high energy and hyper-layered production.
The EP’s closing track Never Knew is a light hearted ballad inspired by the works of artists such as Monica and Mariah Carey and is also a nod back to Sabah’s earlier, more mellow releases such as Over and Rain of July.
The One - EP Is out now on all streaming sites under the DMY label.
END OF THE LINE
‘End of The Line’ is the 3rd single off Sabah Kenway’s debut EP ‘THE ONE’ Out 28/10/22.

Mixed, mastered and produced by SFROMWEST and is out now under the label DMY.
FEELIN’ ME
Feelin’ Me is Sabah’s 7th studio single, produced, mixed and mastered by fellow London rapper and producer and frequent collaborator, SFROMWEST .
This track has an effortlessly laid back, sensual vibe with a hint of Arabic influence paying homage to Sabah’s North African roots whilst also tying back to the nostalgic production style found in 90’s and early 2000’s Hip-Hop and R&B.
THE ONE
The One, Sabah Kenway’s 6th studio single, is a late 90’s/early 2000’s dark R&B inspired track, influenced by artists such as Aaliyah, Destiny’s Child and 702.
This song gives an empowering take on Sabah’s usual discography, whilst still exploring the theme of love and break-up, the song explains how the person who you thought was ‘the one’ for you turns out to be the complete opposite but rather than letting that affect you, you decide to know your worth and show them that losing you was their loss.
This track is produced by London rapper and producer SFROMWEST and is due to be released on the March 25th 2022.
STRANGER EYE
‘Stranger Eye’ is Sabah Kenway’s 5th studio single and is a Bossa Nova inspired Neo-soul track which talks about the instant soul connection that can be felt when you meet a complete stranger yet you feel as if they have always been a part of your life wether romantically or platonically.
Produced, mixed and mastered by SFROMWEST (aka. Adam Medzavorian), a west London rapper/producer who Sabah has worked with previously on tracks like ‘Rain of July’ and ‘OVER (SFROMWEST Remix)’, there is no doubt that the pair make a great team.
Initially, ‘Stranger Eye’ was nothing more than a voice note as the two had been working on a completely different song, a lighter more summery track set to be released in July however it did not feel as if the timing was right for that particular song to come out.
As they began brainstorming, Adam sent over a sample which Sabah really liked and thought would go perfectly with something she already had and sent over the voice note for stranger eye (initially called “ hey stranger”), the two instantly loved it and got in the studio to work on it straight away.

RAIN OF JULY
Rain of July
Sabah Kenway's third official single 'Rain of July' is a laid back, old-school r&b inspired track explaining the ups and downs that all relationships face no matter how seemingly perfect. Opening the song with the line “can you weather the storm?” indicates that there are questions being asked as to wether or not the person in question can still handle the relationship despite its issues. Packed with elements of jazz and neo-soul such as the use of a saxophone in the song’s break down section, provides the listeners with an air of nostalgia whilst also appealing to modern day r&b lovers.
Written circa 2017/2018 alongside fellow London based musician Jordan Grant, ‘Rain of July’ was one of Sabah’s first projects as an artist and was fundamental in shaping and finding her own individual sound and style. A few years later in 2020, Sabah approached London based rapper/producer SFROMWEST who also produced the UK Garage remix of her second single 'Over', came together alongside Kenway and Grant in creating this dreamy, atmospheric take on the average r&b love song.
MUSIC VIDEO
The music video was filmed mainly filmed in Brighton, specifically the pier and was shot, directed and edited by London based photographers / videographers Melissa Cofie and Richie Mafwa.
The idea behind this video was to provide the viewer with a front row seat into the journey of this relationship, a look into the best times that can be seen represented by the dreamy beach setting and sunshine, and then later on in the video, represented by the contrasting switch in mood and lighting which represents the darker, more challenging moments.
Inspired by cinematic cult classics such as ‘Buffalo 66’ and ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’ this video does not only serve as a visual aid for ‘Rain of July’ but also should be appreciated in its own right as its own short film.
OVER (SFROMWEST REMIX)
Over (SFROMWEST Remix)
Produced, mixed and mastered by London based rapper/producer SFROMWEST, 'Over (SFROMWEST Remix)’ came out in August of 2020 and is Sabah's best performing track to date, reaching over 50,000 streams at the time of writing.
Because her audience is used to hearing a more laid back and relaxed r&b sound, many found the switch in energy and style to be a pleasant surprise and was a perfect way to be able to experiment with a completely new sound and genre.
Alongside being featured on Spotify’s official UKG playlist, the track also managed to get airplay on BBC introducing London’s radio show hosted by Aurie Styla later that year which caused more traction to the song and led to a growth in her fanbase.
OVER
Over
Released in March of 2020, eight moths after her debut single ‘Fool For Loving You’, Sabah continues to evoke nostalgia with her second single ‘Over’.
Delving into the depths of retro soul and r&b, Over is heavily inspired by the 80’s and early 1990s through the incorporation of smooth jazz influences showcased by live saxophone played by London based musician and producer Solaariss.
Written in the form of a conversation, the song gives us an insight into the aftermath of a relationship where both are reminiscing on their time together and contemplating if there was anything more that could have been done to save their relationship.
MUSIC VIDEO
Originally, the plan for the music video was that it would be set at a sleepover with Sabah having a girls-night-in with her close friends to cheer her up, emulating the popular scene we all know and love from feel good films such as ‘Grease’, ‘13 going on 30’ and ‘The Cheetah Girls’.
However due to the pandemic, lockdown happened the week of shooting so the major change in plans lead to the making of a home-made music video instead which was unexpected yet still gave the nostalgic feeling that was intended for the video.
Fool for Loving You
Fool For Loving You
Released in the summer of 2019 but written at the age of 16, Sabah Kenway's debut single 'Fool For Loving You' is a mellow and melodic, fresh take on the modern day r&b scene as it incorporates the bounce and groove of the 90’s and early 2000’s that we all love and recognise.
As the self-explanatory title suggests, fool for loving you talks about the story of an unrequited love, exploring the thoughts and feelings of putting all your effort into a relationship, only to receive minimal effort in return. With lyrics such as "how was I so blind I couldn’t see, that you were never there mentally when you were there with me" expands on the idea that your emotions can sometimes stop you from seeing a person’s true intentions which many people of all demographics can understand and relate to.
MUSIC VIDEO
Shot and Directed by London Based photographer / videographer Imran Suleiman, the Fool for Loving You music video was released in November of 2019 and takes place all around Sabah’s hometown of London.
As her first official video, the main goal for this project was to establish Sabah as an artist by showcasing her laid back and nostalgic style as she walks you through her city in a grainy almost home-made style video, taking the audience back to a much simpler and familiar time.
